Qld: Gold Coast deputy 'charged with misleading CMC'
Gold Coast Deputy Mayor DAVID POWER has been charged with misleading Queensland's crime watchdog.
Mr POWER says the Crime and Misconduct Commission has charged him with providing a
document containing information he knew was false and misleading .. during a probe into
electoral bribery.
Last year the CMC ran an inquiry into Gold Coast City Council .. over alleged electoral
bribery in the 2004 council elections.
Mr POWER is alleged to be a key player in a secret developer-backed campaign fund.
He says he's been summonsed to appear in a magistrates court in Brisbane on May 16.
The Commission has refused to confirm or deny the charge.
